Likes:
Those who know Youji most likely also know what he
likes: women. He loves to take care of them, to be around them,
and making them happy (one way or another). He also has a
liking for flashy clothes, good hair, and fast cars, which all seem
to be related to his first passion of women.
Dislikes:
Youji doesn't care for underage girls; they're too
immature for his tastes. However, what he really hates is men.
Men are always in general taking advantage of women, and
abusing them. He can't stand a man who would ever fail to give
women the respect they deserve. And to any man who would go
so far as to physically hurt a woman he'll be at the ready to
physically hurt *them*.
Favorite Food:
Youji has quite the defined palette: he loves a
good red wine served with a side of beef.
Hated Food:
Natto; its so plain and unattractive. Youji can't stand
flavorless food.
Favorite Subject:
During high school Youji always looked forward
to his Home-Ec class. After all, that was the time of day where he
could show off and run around helping the other students of his
class...at least if they were female.
Hated Subject:
Physical Education was never fun for Youji: it
was early in the morning, and an all boys-class for him. It wasn't
until he GRADUATED that the school finally had the sense to
make classes co-ed.
Organization:
Kritiker.
Personality:
Passionate, romantic, and.. a little lazy when it
comes to phsyical work, Youji is an overall charmer and loyal
friend. Despite his "playboy" attitude, he truly does care for
women-- he's not just doing it for the sex as a casual observer or
even fellow Weiß member might think.
Appearance:
Youji has wavy blonde locks that almost touch his
shoulders and sparkling green eyes (which he has a tendency to
cover up with shades -- an air of mystery is always necessary in
proper romancing). He usually dresses in clothes that might be
a little too tight and risky for most men (but after all he's not
wearing them for any guy, even himself...and with all luck he
won't be wearing them for long at all anyway).
He has both ears
pierced, but doesn't always have an earring in both. Usually, its
just one or the other. As for his working clothes, Youji sports a
long overcoat the sides of which have a white stripe design that
resembles a cross. There is also one white stripe that goes
down the centerline of his body. Underneath the overcoat he
wears form-fitting black pants, and a black-midriff top (which you
never see since his overcoat is closed just past his waistline).
He also carries a thick metal watch on his wrist which doubles
as his weapon.
Family/Friends:
Rikio Kudou: Youji's father, now deceased. Rikio was a
hardworking detective of the police.
Unfortunately, while working on a case he sustained serious
injury and died. Youji was only three years old when he lost his
father; he has no recollection of the man, other than the pictures
he's seen of Rikio.
Abi Kudou: Youji's mother. She's a famous romance novelist
and luckily made herself quite a fortune shortly after finding
herself a husband: all the more better to support the unusually
large family they would create together. She often seems to be
the perfect refined lady, but once and awhile her true more
flamboyant and risqué personality leaks out: especially if Youji
were to bring any of his male friends over. Youji adores his
mother, just like the rest of the ladies in his family. He loyally
visits her every Sunday for dinner and gossip.
Kaiko: Oldest sister of Youji. She is very calm and light of heart,
particularly when compared with her fellow Kudou brethren.
Halfway through medical school (In Japan you attend right after
highschool...lucky!) she pursued a relationship with a man who
left her with child. With support from Abi and the rest of her family
she was able to go through with her pregnancy and continue her
vigorous medical training: she became a practicing doctor
shortly after her daughter's first birthday.
Nokki: Kaiko's daughter, currently age 15. She for some reason
has quite an obsession with her uncle Youji, and is very pleased
whenever he pays her and Kaiko a visit. She pleads to let Youji
drive his car, but up to now has been unsuccessful in getting
behind it's wheel. Youji also adores Nokki and would go out of
his way to bring a smile to his niece's face.
Enako: Enako is the middle sister of the Kudou clan. She's
currently a hardworking police officer, just like her father was.
She can be very cross, and has a notoriously bad temper. She
has always criticized her fellow siblings, especially Youji. When
Youji was younger, it seemed that Enako's one pleasure of the
day was ripping Youji out of bed and forcing him off to school.
She also did not approve of him becoming a freelance detective,
and is glad he gave that particular line of work up. She constantly
badgers him about getting a real job like she and his father had.
Kameko: Youji's youngest older sister. She's pretty laid back,
and is very likable. However, after a beer or two (which she
seems to enjoy a bit too frequently) her personality gets a bit
more extreme. She's often teasing Youji, who frequently teases
him back. Kameko is only one year older than Youji and bears a
strong physical resemblance to him as well. When the duo were
younger it was quite common for people to mistake them for
identical *female* twins. Luckily, they haven't been confused
since their junior high years.
With the amount of women in Youji's family its no wonder why he
seems to have such a way with women. While growing up,
young Youji always looked up to his mother and sisters, and
holds a very high level of respect for all of them. Often while
growing up Youji would attempt to defend his sister's from their
male friends, whether they desired such protection or not.
Youji still feels responsible for the death of his partner and close
friend, Asuka Murase. Almost daily he is haunted by the fact that
he could have done something to save her, and what could have
been if he did.
Youji doesn't have many male friends outside of those in Weiß.
As for those members of the species who are female... there's
not a girl who Youji won't find himself well acquainted with.
History:
From the day Youji was born, he had one reason to live: women!
He wanted not only to love and cherish them all, but also protect
them, a natural instinct for a man with three sisters, and one
widowed mother. He had an interest in detective work as well.
His father had died doing it: Youji often wondered why he had put
his life at risk, and also if he would ever be willing to do the
same for someone, or something. If a woman was involved he'd
do anything to assure her safety and well-being. Even risk his
life, he decided. Youji felt the best way to do that would be to
follow in his father's footsteps.
At first Youji started off in the police academy but shortly after
completing his training, he left the force. He had seen what they
had to offer him and he didn't like it. He didn't like how many
men could get away with just about anything. Instead, Youji
became a freelance detective. He used his police connections in
the department (through his sister and a fellow officer Youji had
met through the academy, Asuka Murase) to investigate only the
cases he chose. If there was a woman left in tears, or worse, he
would be there for her and help to bring about justice.
Youji found himself spending more and more time with Asuka,
on and off the job. She began to often accompany him on cases,
and eventually left the police department herself to become
Youji's official partner. Youji was quite happy with not only the
partner he had in Asuka, but the friend. He truly loved her. If there
was woman he loved more than any other, it was her.
However, in investing a prostitution ring called Riot, Youji lost the
one thing he thought he never would: Asuka herself. During their
undercover investigation, they were found out. In their flight Youji
was wounded. He cried out for Asuka to go on without him, and
with some hesitation she did, only to be shot down right before
Youji's eyes. He has regretted that day ever since. After Asuka
died, he felt like a complete failure: the one woman he would
have died for, died before his very eyes. He should have been
the one to die that day. He became an utter mess with the
realization that if he couldn't protect Asuka, he couldn't protect
any other woman.
As Youji lay in ruin, pondering his selfish existence he was
visited by his older sister Enako. Enako had also been Asuka's
friend and had worked in the same department with her. Instead
of blaming Youji for Asuka's death (since it was he who
convinced her to leave the police force) she had an offer for him.
She really wasn't quite sure about the details, only that a higher-
up in the department wanted to meet with him. After some harsh
words and strong physical blows to Youji's head on Enako's
part, Youji agreed to the meeting.
Who he found was Manx. It was no easy task for the Kritiker vixen
to convince Youji to join Weiß. Eventually she made him realize
what he could do and what the law couldn't. He could truly
punish those he hated and felt didn't deserve to live. Rapists.
Murderers. Riot. Anyone who would take advantage of a woman
and think he could hide behind society's weakness would now
be his enemy.
Soon he settled down in his new life at Weiß. Asuka was always
a thought in his head with every mission he took on and
completed. He eventually did get to take down Riot, and in doing
so met a young woman who reminded him of Asuka. And of his
failures. He almost had lost another woman due to his
inabilities, had it not been for the rest of his team mates.
However, a far worse memory of Asuka awaited him, in the all-
female-assassin team lead by Masafumi Takatori: Schreient.
How could Youji bring himself to fight women? The very thing he
lived to cherish and protect? And that wasn't all: after a few of
their skirmishes with WeiB, Youji noticed something about one
of their members named Neu: she looked exactly like Asuka.
Too much like Asuka.
This fact lead Youji to take in the injured Neu. He nursed her to
health, and brought her right into Weiß's shop without
considering the consequences. Asuka was all that mattered.
Desperately, he tried to make Neu remember that she had been
Asuka. Youji thought that perhaps Asuka, although seriously
injured, had not died that night. He clung to the thought that
perhaps Masafumi had brainwashed his beloved partner into
Neu to do his bidding. He believed that if he talked to Neu
reminding herof her old life as Asuka she would remember who
she had been.
The other members of Weiß were put at risk because of Youji's
obsession with Neu. Neu had allowed herself to become
wounded, and had stayed with Youji so that Schreient could find
the information it needed to destroy WeiB. Youji's heart was torn
between the hope he held in his heart about Neu and reality. It
wasn't until his team was in peril (Omi in particular) that he
realized what he must do: he fought Neu for the last time, and
killed her. She was no longer Asuka to Youji: Neu only lived for
Masafumi, and could never be the angel he had once loved with
all his heart.
Once again Youji had to heal his wounds. Maybe after all that
had happened and with the death of Neu he was truly ready to
accept the death of Asuka, and to forgive himself for his initial
failures. He was ready to live for who he was now, and to fully
pursue the mission of Weiß and himself.
Talent:
Youji is very persuasive and boasts he can smooth talk
any woman into doing anything he wants. Need to get that crucial
information from a secretary? Just give him a rose and let Youji
do the rest. He's also very crafty with his hands: he's able to
maneuver thin threads of wire into a deadly weapon and pick any
lock.
Weapon:
Youji wears a watch like device which launches thin
threads of wire. He uses the wire to entangle his enemies and
block attacks. The wire is sharp enough to cut flesh, and can be
used to strangle an opposing foe, or be lashed to disarm an
adversary.
